The WCA Knights had a successful day at the Quad County Conference. Low scorer for the day was Lexi Poyzer with a 94, her personal best. Lexi has really found her rhythm on the course and is gaining confidence in her game. Bogey golf is becoming common place for her. It is so fun seeing her excitement in the game paying off in her play. Being named all conference today was a proud moment for both she and us. Jessica St. Martin was right behind her with a 95, also being named to the all conference team. We were very excited to have 2 of the 7 all conference spots. The 95 was just 2 strokes off of Jessica's personal best and a a very solid, respectful round. The par threes gave Jessica a run for her money today but she recovered nicely on the par fours and fives. A highlight for the day, was an amazing chip in from 25 yards out on hole three. Jessica has been playing good, consistent golf all season and we are excited to see what she has in store at the sub-section. Kate Wrolson finished the round with her personal best of 109. She had some impressive chips, made some good putts and had some great par threes on the back 9. Libby Poyzer shot a 111, tying her personal best. Hole number seven was a challenge for her, dealing with some very long grass on one of Tipsinah's infamous mounds. She had to take an eleven on that hole, but otherwise had a very good round with several bogeys on challenging holes. Kate Merrick rounded out the scoring with a 111. She had a nice 49 on the front (her second nine) but had a difficult time on the back with a uncharacteristic 62. The ball just wasn't going where Katie wanted it to on her first nine and her putts wouldn't drop, but she hung in there, kept a positive attitude and played every hole like it mattered. I was very impressed with Katie today. It wasn't her day, but as always, she played with a smile and great attitude. We can't wait to see how she does at sub-sections.
