The beautiful weather on Tuesday, May 9th was paired with some solid golfing from the WCA Knights at their home course. It was a great day for the Knights. Kate Wrolson hit another personal best with a 113, enjoying some bogies, a strong short game and some nice long shots. Libby Poyzer had a wonderful round, shooting a 54 on the front, followed by a 57 on the back. She didn't have any big holes and had a very consistent game with some nice bogies on the round. When word got to us that Libby had gotten a golf ball to the forehead on the fly, we were super concerned. Near the end of her round, a fellow golfer from another hole shanked his shot, not knowing she was there and unfortunately, it hit her in the head. She was a real trooper, stuck out the round and even refused a ride into the clubhouse. We were glad she was ok. Katie Merrick was a little disappointed in her 111 for the day, having carded a 43 on the front, the day before at practice, but handled it with her usual grace and amazing positive attitude. She had some water issues and some shots that just wouldn't fly today. That was ok, because Jessica St. Martin and Lexi Poyzer really stepped it up for us today, both breaking a 100. Lexi shot a 95, parring three challenging holes in a row, including the toughest hole on the course, #8. Her 95 earned her 6th place honors. Jessica's most notable highlight was a birdie on hole #10. She had many solid shots leading to several pars and bogies throughout the round, earning her fifth place honors with a 93.
