Members of the West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville wrestling team were honored recently at their awards night as they celebrated a 25-3 season which saw them finish as Section 6A champions and 4th place in the Class A state wrestling tournament. Nine Knight wrestlers participated in the individual state tournament this past season.
Jake Nohre (126) and Keaton Long (152) were both state runners-up in their weight classes. Kaden Spindler (145) was fifth and Levi Larkin (170) sixth in state tournament action. Other state tournament qualifiers were Jordan Lohse (106), Kaleb Getz (113), Drake Swanson (120), Tyler Onstad (160) and Mason Nibbe (220). Onstad and Long were named to the All-Tournament team.
Award winners were Jordan Lohse (Rookie Wrestler of the Year), Jake Nohre (Hardest Worker, Most Valuable Wrestler), Tyler Onstad (Spirit Award), Zach Mattson (Most Improved Wrestler) and Lexi Danner (Statistician Award).
JV awards went to Deklin Goeden (Most Improved, Hardest Worker, Most Valuable Wrestler).
Nohre reached the 150 win milestone and four others, Larkin, Swanson, Long and Onstad reached 100 career wins during the season.
