The West Central Area Knights played overtime against the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder on Saturday afternoon, pulling out a 60-58 victory.
WCA started the game leading 4-0 before LPGE scored nine straight points to take a 9-4 lead. The Knights would not lead again until just over a minute left in regulation.
The Thunder led 32-30 at halftime and had their biggest lead at 39-32 before a barrage of 3's by the Knights against the Thunder zone propelled a 17-7 Knights run as they took their first lead at 49-48. The Thunder's Blake Fossland hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to give the Thunder the lead back at 51-49.
Logan Paulson scored inside with three seconds to go to tie the game at 51-51 to send the game into overtime.
The Knights outscored the Thunder 9-7 in overtime to secure a 60-58 victory.
The Knights made 48% of their shots (21-44) and the Thunder hit 23-52 for 44%. Both teams shot the ball pretty well from the 3-point line. Both teams made 9 of 22 threes for 41%. The Knights hit 9-20 free throws and the Thunder only made 3-14.
The Thunder had a 36-26 advantage on the boards. The Knights defense took five charges in the game including four by Jake Combs.
