The West Central Area Knights defeated the Wheaton Warriors 50-39 on Friday night in Barrett. The Knights hit 20-41 shots for 49% led by Logan Paulson who shot 10-13 and finished with a double-double 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Knights held Wheaton to 30% shooting as they went 16-54.
Knights coach Kraig Hunter said, "When we did get the ball inside we finished well and then got some good kick-outs that led to six 3-pointers. However, much of the time we turned it over before we got it inside. We did not play well at all tonight in terms of taking care of the ball. It was uncharacteristically sloppy which led to Wheaton getting 13 more shots than us."
The Knights turned the ball over 20 times to 14 for Wheaton. The Warriors also outrebounded the Knights 34-31.
Others scoring for the Knights were Nathan Kaye with 7, Jacob Bright with 6, Aaron Wiese 6, Jake Combs 5, and Caden Fernholz 3.
Rebound leaders were Paulson with 10, Combs with 7, Jack Nelson 5, Weise 4, and Alex Endreson with 3.
Fernholz was the assist leader with 5 and Nelson and Weise each had 3. Fernholz also had 3 steals.
Scoring for Wheaton were Matt Thielen with 10, Zach Deal 9, Zach Stueve 9, Isaac Wilson 8, and Eric Berger 3.
