The WCA Knights held the Sebeka Trojans to 41 points and 35% shooting in a 67-41 win in Barrett on Tuesday night. The Trojans feature 1,000 point scorer James Clark who is averaging well over 20 points per game and the Knights held him to 9 points.
"I was really happy with our team defense tonight. We only had nine players available for the game tonight and they all came together and really put forth a great defensive performance," said Knight Coach Kraig Hunter.
The duo of Logan Paulson (19 points/5 rebounds) and Jake Combs (18 points/8rebounds) combined for 37 points and 13 rebounds.
"Jake Combs was really a leader tonight. He had a big game. In addition to his points and rebounds he had 3 assists and took 2 charges," said Hunter.
Aaron Wiese was also in double figures with 12 points and had 6 rebounds. Caden Fernholz added 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Jack Nelson had 5 points and 5 rebounds. Logan Nadgwick added 2 points and Nathan Kaye 2 points. Jacob Bright added 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 rebound.
Hunter added, "Nadgwick made some key plays for us when they started to make a run by getting an offensive putback and deflected a couple of balls on the defensive end."
The Knights offense executed well hitting 26-48 shots for 54% including 5-12 from 3-point land. They also made 10-14 free throws. The Trojans shot 15-43 (35%) and hit only 2-15 threes. They made 9-17 free throws.
The Knights had a wide rebounding margin with 37 to 19 for the Trojans.
