"The day of competition was much needed for our wrestlers," stated Head Coach Brandon Gruchow. "They have gone twelve straight practices without any competition due to weather postponements and other conflicts within the schedule. Practice was getting pretty heated up by the end of the week this week and the boys were wanting to wrestle someone other than their own teammates. I think the pent up energy and the aggression that they were feeling from the lack of competition may have helped them today. They were hungry to compete. I feel that they came out ready to wrestle and they wrestled very well for the most part. I was pleased to see all our guys find a way on the podium at the end of the day. The boys stepped on the mat with a purpose to win the tournament and they each did their part to accomplish goal number one for the season, to capture the Grant County Tournament title. All in all, it was a great way to start the season. We are excited to get to the Big Bear next Friday and attain goal number two."
