West Central Area Boys Handle Hornets in Henning
The West Central Area Knights travelled to Henning on Friday night and took a 30-17 halftime lead enroute to a 56-38 victory.
The Knights were without their leading scorer Logan Paulson who was out due to illness.
Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We were pleased with our effort after back to back nights. There are a lot of good things happening and as always there are also things we have to continue to improve on. We defended well again and on the offensive end we got shots we wanted again, but without Logan Paulson here tonight, we didn't finish as well as we needed to all of the time. A lot of our guys still need to make that adjustment to the physical play of varsity basketball and just be stronger with the ball around the hoop."
Hunter added, "We were able to play all eleven of the guys tonight for substantial minutes and they all contributed. Ross Anderson was a real leader on the floor and Dawson Staples was a bright spot for us off the bench as well as several others."
The Knights shot 46% from the field (22-48) while holding the Hornets to 29% (13-45). The Knights hit 2-9 threes and the Hornets 2-15. From the free throw line the Knights were 10-14 for 71% and the Henning was 10-11 for 91%.
The Knights outrebounded Henning 39-22.
The Knights had a real balanced scoring attack led by Brady Sabolik with 11, Ross Anderson 9, Jake Combs 9, Dawson Staples 8, Jack Nelson 7, Aaron Wiese 6, Logan Nadgwick 3, Caden Fernholz 2, and Colton Wutzke 1.
Henning scoring: Adam Lange 13, Bryce Rach 10, Sam Fisher 7, Jacob Quam 6, and Parker Fraki 2.
Leading rebounders for the Knights were Jack Nelson with 9 and Jake Combs and Ross Anderson with 8 each.
