Friday, October 7 the West Central Area/Ashby (WCAA) Knight football team traveled to Parkers Prairie to face off with the Panthers.
The first quarter found each team looking for footing in a battle of field position. Following five combined possessions Parkers Prairie found pay dirt first midway through the second stanza following a 17 play 81 yard drive when (Sr) RB Andrew Johnson pushed it in from four yards out. (Jr) PK Colton Booker booted the PAT giving the home team a 7-0 advantage. WCAA would answer with a 63 yard scoring drive of their own, when at two minutes left in the quarter (Jr) QB Ross Anderson found (Sr) WR Cole Redepenning on a one yard touchdown pass. The PAT was denied and the score would remain 7-6 in the Panthers favor at the half.
As the second half began to take shape a large and powerful Panther o-line slowly took control of the game. It paved the way as (Jr) RB Austin Koep and Johnson ran in three unanswered scores before the game ended sending WCAA home with a sour tasting 28-6 loss.
Offensively the Knights found brief successes but as a whole struggled on the evening to move a football. The collective effort posted 126 total yards on 43 attempts. Anderson captained the passing game completing eight out of 20 tries for 78 yds. (Sr) WR Tyler Onstad caught two of the passes for 22 yards. (Jr) RBBrady Sabolik led the rushing attack with 22 yards on 11 carries.
The Panthers put up 321 yards with 236 of them on the ground. Defensive leaders for the Knights include (Sr) LB Jacob Drechsel with 11.5 tackles and a half sack, Redepenning had 9.5 tackles and Caden Fernholz posted 6.5 tackles.
Cole Redepenning earned the 'Player of the Game' from Z-103.3 and area newspapers. Redepenning caught the ball for the lone TD, had three solo tackles and 13 assisted stops.
Friday, October 14 the Knights will host the 0-6 Kimball Area Cubs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
