Van Kempen Sisters Still Competing

The sister act of Holly Van Kempen (St. Scholastica) and Abby Van Kempen (UM-Morris), West Central Area High School graduates, are currently playinig basketball at their respective colleges.
Holly, a 6'2" junior, has started 11 of her teams 17 games and is averaging 21.7 minutes per game. She is scoring 6.9 points per game, and leads the team with an average of 5.6 rebounds per game. She also has a team high 28 blocked shots. St. Scholastica is 5-12 through the first 17 games of the season.
Abby, a 6'1" freshman, is averaging 9.6 points and 10.7 rebounds through 20 games, having recorded 9 double-doubles. The Cougars are 15-5. She also has 43 blocked shots and is hitting 75.3% (61-81) of her free throws and 46.7% (64-137) from the field. Abby is playing 22.3 minutes per game.
The sisters matched up for the first time on January 14 with UM-Morris winning 68-62 on the road. Abby had six points and 8 rebounds in the game, and Holly finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds. The two will square off again on February 17 at 5:30pm in Morris.
